NAG ALL: desktop organization and AI categorization for 3D libraries
Blurr built NAG ALL for NAG Studio, a desktop application for organizing 3D asset libraries. It connects local file processing and configurable folder structures with AI categorization, processing history and the account services needed to manage access and usage.
Project background
NAG Studio’s NAG ALL — Automatic Library Lister — addresses a practical task in 3D production: turning downloaded and accumulated assets into an organized library. A model may arrive with preview images, texture files and compressed archives, each with its own naming and folder structure. The application needs to organize that material while retaining the relationships that make an asset usable.
Blurr built the desktop application and its supporting services for NAG Studio. The work connects native file operations, configurable organization patterns and AI-assisted classification in one workflow. Artists can select their source and destination, configure the library structure, follow processing and review the resulting job history.
Organizing models, previews and textures
The organizer handles local folders and compressed asset packages. Its configuration separates the source location from the organized output and lets users choose how models, preview images and textures should be grouped. Some patterns centralize files, while others keep each asset in its own folder. The desktop interface previews these structures before processing, giving the user a defined arrangement for the resulting library.
This required coordination between the interface and native file processing. Archive handling, preview discovery and the selected organization pattern feed the same job, with processing controls and logs available in the application. Batch mode extends that workflow across subdirectories, so a larger collection can be processed as a sequence of identifiable jobs.
Using preview images to categorize assets
The AI workflow starts from the asset’s preview image. The desktop application prepares thumbnails and submits them to the backend, where a processing queue sends the images for classification against the selected category set. The response is parsed into category and subcategory fields that the organizer can apply to the local files.
Blurr connected classification progress back to the desktop job. As results become available, the application can organize completed assets and continue tracking the rest of the queue. It records successful and failed processing, and handles unrecognized files as part of the final organization step. AI therefore produces structured information used by the file workflow, with visible progress from submission to the organized result.
Making processing and usage visible
Long-running library jobs need controls and feedback. NAG ALL presents stage progress, logs and completed-job history, alongside pause, resume and stop controls in the organizer. Before AI processing, the application checks the available credit balance and presents the required usage. Backend services manage accounts, licenses, device activation and credit records, connecting access to the desktop application with its online processing services.
A desktop workflow connected to online AI services
The resulting application brings file preparation, library organization and AI categorization into a connected desktop workflow. Native operations work on the artist’s local files, while backend services provide classification, queue management and account controls. NAG Studio’s product combines those responsibilities in an application whose processing steps and results are available for the user to review.
